I'm A Marvel, And I'm A D.C. - Write a song from the point of view of a superhero or supervillain. (2 minute minimum) (your submission is due June 23rd 11:59PM W)
The title for this round is a direct rip off of ItsJustSomeRandomGuy on YouTube. Your song does not have to be about his show or about one of the characters in it. If you do not directly say in the song who you're writing about, I suggest you include that in your e-mail for the judges. Oh, and I highly recommend you watch ItsJustSomeRandomGuy. His series is amazing.
Clarifications:
- You do not have to use the title of the round in the song, and it doesn't have to be the title of your song. Title your song whatever you like.
- The challenge does not say it has to be about a superhero already in existence.
- If I come off as a douchebag with some of my comments...well I'm not used to editing myself on my own blog. Most people in the contest know me, so they know most of it is meant to get a laugh. But for the noobs I will attempt to be less snarky, even though Heather is to blame.
Submitting Entries:
- Must be submitted by the given deadline. Otherwise it'll be posted as a shadow.
- Song must be sent in MP3 format. If possible send it in WAV or FLAC as well. If you don't, I'll convert it for upload onto BandCamp myself. Don't complain if my converter sucks & your music suffers though.
- Name the MP3 the song's title, but without spaces & punctuation.
- Title of the e-mail should be the title of the Challenge & your band's name.
- Include the song lyrics in the body of the e-mail. (If your song doesn't have lyrics...consider yourself eliminated. But it can still get posted as a shadow.)
- Include info on anyone that needs credited if you collabed with someone.
- File sharing options if you need them: ZShare, MediaFire, RapidShare & YouSendIt. Please send an e-mail as I already stated, but with the download link if you need one of these services. If I don't click on your e-mail because I think it's spam, well that's tough luck. Follow directions so that doesn't happen.
Short Term Schedule: (I'm using EST)
June 23rd 11:59PM (W) - First song deadline.
June 24th 8:00PM (R) - Listening party will be held HERE, and hosted by Jules.
June 25th (F) - Songs are uploaded by Heather & me onto the blog & BandCamp.
*At some point after uploading:
- judges will rank the songs
- judges will review the songs
- eliminations will be announced*
So here's a question for the judges. Do you expect us to use the words of title verbatim in the song's lyrics? Will it affect the scoring?
ReplyDeleteSteve: You do not have to use the words in the title at all. Any time we want you to use a certain word or phrase in your song, we will tell you so.
ReplyDeleteIt will not affect your score whether you do or don't. It's not part of the challenge.
Just to clarify, does it have to be an actual Marvel or DC character, or can we make it up?
ReplyDeleteGraham: No. You can write about any superhero. Even ones not in existence.
ReplyDeleteCan others edit you too? It's "Heather and me." Not "and I." Remove the "Heather and" to understand what's wrong with the way you wrote it.
ReplyDeleteYou are clearly not a regular at Spintown. Things like correct spelling & grammar are almost unheard of. :p
ReplyDelete*will edit just for you though*
I'm totally jazzed about this.
ReplyDeleteI'll try to be there for the listening party!
Arrgh - finishing my full recording and it feels "too much" - recorded a live solo version as well that is "pure" have no idea which to send, knowing nothing about the judges.
ReplyDeleteCurse you red baron!!!
can't wait can't wait can't wait :)
