SpinTunes #11: Profiles

Time to meet your fellow competitors!  I suggest you all test out your links to make sure they are working, and if you notice anything else that's missing or wrong just let me know.  I'll fix them as soon as I can.

(Profile order is based on who sent in their round 1 song first.)

Keen Sid:  A good boy.

Jeff Brown:  Sometimes a turbulent rock force.  Sometimes a sensitive guy with a guitar singing about girls and feelings.  Sometimes both.

R3:  Orion (Shadow)

R4:

Megalodon:  The "Big mighty" band is an extinct species of shark rock that lived long ago, during the Cenozoic Era.

Megalodon is regarded as one of the largest and most powerful predator bands in vertebrate rock history, and likely had a profound impact on the structure of marine rock. Primitive recordings suggest that this giant shark rock band reached a maximum awesomeness. The Megalodon showing in Spin Tunes 10 was that of a Grenadiers. Megalodon found its stride in the challenge about Horror movies, but that's where the Big Mighty is right at home. Hopefully there will be marine and monster related challenges in Spin Tunes #11. Sharks always move forward, especially big and mighty sharks. Looking forward to the hunt.

R4:  Stout Cortez (runner up)

Edric Haleen:  Just as he promised, Edric is back for SpinTunes 11!  He took a small sabbatical during "Champions versus Shadows" last summer, which allowed him to not only be a guest judge for a round, but also to write a full-length musical based on Jonathan Coulton's song, The Princess Who Saved Herself, which will be performed at the Riverwalk Theatre in Lansing, Michigan for the two weekends after Thanksgiving this year!  (And, as Edric recorded for ST2R1, "If you come and visit, you could come and visit ME!!!")

R4:

Sam Rodewald:  Milwaukee singer/songwriter Sam Rodewald was classically trained in both voice and composition. Though he wanted at one time to be an opera singer, he found that he preferred writing and performing his own songs and the freedom that came with accompanying himself on the guitar, banjo, piano or whatever other instrument he might have at his disposal. Drawing influence from classical art songs as well as folk and pop music, Sam weaves his central Wisconsin upbringing into melodic stories based on events both real and otherwise.

Governing Dynamics:  Governing Dynamics is a slightly alternative rock "band" (technically, one guy who still foolishly believes he might attract locals who want to play his songs, someday) from Independence, MO.  He/they/it won Spintunes 5.  There have been no signs of a possible 2nd championship whatsoever, but here we are again.

Rob From Amersfoort:  Although born one year after their break-up I grew up listening to The Beatles. I like to be creative, that's why I write and record music. I call my music PRIP (post-retro indie-pop); catchy, acoustic-electric slightly psycho/experimental songs with personal lyrics and lots of backing vocals. I don't like dull & boring so that's why most of my songs tend to be short.

He has written and produced music for Sesame Street, A&E’s Biography, and the Smithsonian Institute. His Beatles tribute band recorded an album of Christmas classics in the style of the fab four, contributing tracks to the Tim Allen film Christmas with the Kranks and the NBC hit Scrubs.
